Annual Fundraising Gala: Milan, October 20 2009

October 29th 2009 marked a very special day for all of us at the Robert F. Kennedy Foundation of Europe: our Annual Fundraising Gala.

The event was hosted by Banca Popolare di Milano, in the center of Milan, and we are particularlyy thankful to the President, Massimo Ponzellini, and all the staff at BPM that worked relentlessly to make the evening a success.

The Master of Ceremonies was journalist and writer Beppe Severgnini.

During the evening, Kerry Kennedy, Honorary President of the Robert F. Kennedy Foundation of Europe, gave a heartwarming speech welcoming our Guest of Honor, former President William Jefferson Clinton.

We are honored, proud and grateful to President Clinton for his presence, and his speech, on what we can do to make the world a better place if we put ourselves to work.

We wish to thank all the people who attended the Gala and all those who could not attend but donated to support our projects.

We are particularly proud of the small group of students from “Maffeo Vegio” High school in Lodi, near Milan, who attended the event. They are part of the 160.000 students that this year have received the “Speak Truth To Power” educational package on human rights and legality. They are the next generation of citizens, those who, like the defenders they are beginning to learn about, will be changing the world.
