The People's Republic of Bangladesh is located in South Asia. The Prime Minister has been Sheikh Hasina Wajed since January 6, 2009.

The nation was created in 1947, during the partition of India and Pakistan, when it became the eastern portion of Pakistan. In 1971, after a war of independence, the State of Bangladesh was formed.
