During El Salvador's civil war, a group of women banned together to discover the fate of their disappeared relatives. Eventually growing to over five hundred members, COMADRES fought for the amnesty of political prisoners, information concerning the whereabouts of missing soldiers, and punishment for those responsible for political assassinations.
