The Republic of Costa Rica is located in Central America. On February 7th 2010 Laura Chinchilla - Vice President for former President Oscar Arias Sanchez - was elected President, the first woman to hold the position in the history of the country.

Costa Rica's core foreigh affair issues deal with effectively spreading human rights values. It is a neutral state that does not have a standing army.
