Female Gentilal Mutilation

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is a vast and complex phenomenon, that includes traditional practices that vary from incision to removal, completely or partially, of the external female genital system.

Girls, teenagers and women who undergo this practice often risk serious and irreversible afflictions to their health, as well as tough psychological consequences.

Many of the girls and women that have been subjected to female genital mutilatino come from 28 African countries, even if a number of them lives in Asia. Similar cases are increasing also in Europe, Australia, Canada and the United States, mainly amongst immigrants of Africa and South-West Asia.
