Ghana

The Republic of Ghana is located in West Africa. 

The judicial penal system is very slow in Ghana. Prisons are often overcrowded and have few resources.  Violence against women is pervasive - despite the laws used to counter it.  For instance, female genital mutilation still occurs widely in the north, although the government began to deal with this problem. There is also unchecked discrimination based upon gender in the country.

Ghana still retains the death penalty by law, but the government does not apply the practice.

The production of cocoa has created an industry of child labor, where slavery and abuse is quite normal.

Many communities do not have access to drinking water, while companies and firms operate with impunity from laws and regulations on children workers, and the environment.
