Satellite state of the USSR from World War II to 1989, Hungary is a member of the European Union since 2004.

The Roma community continues to be discriminated in every aspect of peoples’ lives and members of the community have been victims of attacks from presumed racist groups.
Lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders continue to be the target of attacks from violent groups.
