The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is located in the Middle East. It is a constitutional monarchy. The  king is Abdullah II bin al-Hussein and the Prime Minister is Samir Rifai.

In 2008 Jordan extended basic laws regarding empolyment to domestic workers, but in 2009 these protections were repealed.

During 2009 there were serious restriction of freedom of expression, association and assembly.

Women are often discriminated against and do not receive adequate protection against domestic violence.

In Jordan the death penalty is still in force, but has not been applied since 2006, although recently there have been a number of death penalty sentences.
