Laogai

Laogai is a particular method of forced labor still adopted extensively today in the People’s Republic of China.
Laogai is generically used to indicate the forced labor camp system in China, including reform through labor and personnel.
The term is used also to indicate a labor camp.

The camps’ purpose is to punish and reform criminals in a manner useful to the state.  They serve both as an intimidating and terrorizing machine, with brainwashing to political opponents, and provides work force at zero cost.

Inmates are beating, tortured and forced to live in abysmal conditions, while working most of the day.
