Poverty

Poverty refers to the condition of single people or communities, that, due to economic reasons, have limited – or in some cases completely lacking (i.e. misery) – access to essential and primary goods, to vital social services.

Poverty tends to be higher, generally speaking, in rural areas rather than in urban areas where there are more opportunities to find income.

Poor families are generally larger, with a higher number of children and of people living under the same roof.

Child labor is often an essential income source for poor families, but it also often causes a defect in education, creating a vicious circle of poverty.

Women in poverty are disadvantaged in regards to men, in terms of culture and social participation, and work load, and, sometimes, of food and goods availability.
