RFK Europe with students in Isernia

Isernia, May 4 2010 - The Robert F. Kennedy Foundation of Europe will partecipate to the seventh edition of the “Letture Effervescenti” (sparkling reading) reading project of the E. Majorana high school in Isernia.

The project is coordinated by professors Francesca Penta and Giovanni Petta, and consists of meetings between students and writers. The students read, comment, analyze the books in the course of the preliminary preparatory meetings.

The 2009-2010 edition was opened by Gianfranco Fini, President of the Italian House of Representatives, who talked with the kids about his book “The future of freedom”, dedicated to those born in 1989, the year the Berlin Wall fell.

The “Speak Truth To Power” educational booklet, on human rights and legality, of the Robert F. Kennedy Foundation of Europe will be presented by David Mancini, Assistant District Attorney in Teramo, who will talk with students on his engagement for legality, against human trafficking and child slavery.

“Raising awareness and education new generations is an important challenge for who, like us, fights for the defense of human rights”, says Donatella Massai, RFK Europe Executive Director. “Meetings with students, like the one in Isernia, are an extremely important part of our Foundation’s activities”.

The booklet has been distributed for free to about 200,000 students in 500 Italian high schools, beginning in the 2008/2009 scholastic year, through an agreement with the Italian Ministry of Education.

In Molise, the book was distributed to about 1,000 high school students.
