Self-determination

Self-determination is the right of the individual to choose one’s own acts.

The expression  was first used during the years of the feminist movement, to identify the right  of each individual  to choose in matters regarding sexuality and reproduction.

In politics, self-determination  is the freedom of the people of a territory or national group to determine their own political status and how they will be governed, providing for their economic, social and cultural development.
