Vietnam

Vietnam is a Socialist Republic of South-Eastern Asia. The President is Nguyễn Minh Triết, the Prime Minister is Nguyễn Tấn Dũng.

Vietnam has intensified, in the last years, the suppression of dissenting voices, trying to give more authority to the communist party in power. Authorities have arrested activists, human rights defenders, religious activists, online critics, hiding under the law of national security.

Government has intensified controls on internet, blogs and independent research, and has banned every critical publication against government.

Freedom of religion has continued to deteriorate, with the government mining the freedom of religious leaders and their followers, that ask for civil rights, freedom of religion and the fair resolution of disputes based on land issues.
