Wade McMullenStaff AttorneyWade McMullen is the Staff Attorney for Partners for Human Rights. In this capacity he will help to develop a new PHR strategic litigation program to bring high impact human rights cases before regional mechanisms and domestic courts. He will work with staff to explore new avenues to enhance the existing work with RFK laureates and human rights defenders worldwide. Mr. McMullen was the first Donald M. Wilson Fellow at the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights where he supported the work of RFK Human Rights Award laureate Frank Mugisha in creating social and political demand for the rights of LGBTI Ugandans through targeted advocacy before the US government, the United Nations, and faith leaders. Prior to joining the RFK Center, Mr. McMullen was as an adviser to filmmakers in Eastern Congo, who produced a series of films to prevent forced recruitment and reduce stigma of former child soldiers in Congolese communities. He has worked with many human rights organizations on a wide range of issues, including forced labor and rule of law in India, access to justice and abuses by the extractives industry in Sierra Leone, and children's health in Nicaragua. Mr. McMullen has served as a Research Assistant to the UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary, or arbitrary executions and helped represent two Yemeni survivors of the U.S. government's rendition and secret detention program before various forums including the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
